Budding Bedford script writer hopes to spark your interest in his new film project

An electricity worker from Bedford is raising funds so he can power on with a film project, after connecting with acting and writing away from his day job.

Jordan Lewis has spent the past year finalising the script for a short comedy drama, while still working as a connections surveyor for UK Power Networks.

Now he has started crowdfunding to secure the money required to get his crime-themed film called Inconvenience produced.

Jordan, who has also completed an acting course, has set himself a £5,000 target and has promised to reward anyone who donates.

He said: “I first got an interest in acting when I was approached aged 16 while out with friends, to feature in a short comedy skit which went on to record more than a million hits on Facebook. I’ve since put out my own material on social media and completed a part-time drama course.

“The final year of that was really hit by the coronavirus restrictions. I got myself an agent at the start of 2020, but auditions came to an abrupt halt in March and there is still very little work. I’m fortunate in that I have a day job I enjoy which hasn’t been impacted, but I know it’s been really tough for others in the entertainment industry, some are really struggling.

“My long-term aspiration is to make it big as an actor and develop my writing, too, but I’m realistic about how tough that is to do. My work colleagues have been really supportive and I’m grateful that my company allows me to be flexible so I’ll look to keep both going as long as I can.

“I’ve written a short film, a crime comedy called Inconvenience and have had interest from a director who wants to make it and get it shown at short film festivals. I could potentially be one of the actors, I’m not sure yet, I’m just desperate to see it made. It’s about two criminals who plan a robbery which gradually goes wrong for them.

“I’ve got some money saved up to help make it, but am crowdfunding for more as it would cost about £600 a minute to make. I want there to be an incentive for those who contribute such as being on the credits and getting a T-shirt as well as sharing the satisfaction and pride at seeing the finished product.”
