Two schoolgirls from Bedfordshire have been doing an online bake sale during lockdown to raise money for The Cheetah Foundation.

Nine-year-old Katie Taylor, from Cople, and her friend Olivia Parker, from Willington, have been baking and selling cookies and cakes to their friends and neighbours to raise money for The Cheetah Foundation.

The charity aims to increase the UK’s awareness about the cheetah and the threats it faces in the wild.

Katie Taylor, who is an ambassador for the charity, raised £200 for the Foundation last year, at a school bake sale, this year with school's being closed she decided to take her fundraising online.

Lyndsey, Katie's mum, said: "She is currently in year 5 so not back to school until September.

"The girls have been baking and selling the cookies and cakes and we have been dropping the cakes off outside people’s door to ensure social distancing was adhered to.

"They have both done amazing and they have raised £242 in total."

Katie said: "My friend Olivia Parker helped by making lots of cookies on her own and sold them to her neighbours. She ran out so she had to make more!

"We made flapjacks, chocolate chip cookies and cakes with icing and chocolate wispas on.

"The cookies ran out after a few deliveries because everyone was ordering so many.

"Some of mum’s friends donated who don’t live close by and that was really kind of them.

"My mum set up a donation link on Facebook to make it easy for people to see what we were doing and pay as we are in lockdown as I couldn’t do this at school.

"It has been great fun, it makes me happy to know that Cheetah’s are getting the money we have raised."
