Bedfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner visits Wootton to help identify local priorities

The new Police and Crime Commissioner took (PCC) part in a community day of engagement in Wootton on Wednesday, June 16, to check in with residents and identify local priorities.

The day, which was organised by the North Rural Community Team, started with the new PCC, Festus Akinbusoye, greeting the councillor and local police officers in the Wootton Community Centre.

Throughout the day officers worked in partnership with the local council and housing association to address issues of anti-social behaviour, drug crime, speeding and other driving offences.

Festus Akinbusoye said: "One of my pledges is to support residents in having trust in Bedfordshire Police, and our community policing teams play an integral part in helping us do just that.

"I will continue to work together with the community policing teams and local authorities to discuss what the priorities and actions are."

The North Rural Community Team Sergeant John Killick said: “First of all I would like to thank PC Amanda Harvey for organising and leading this day.

"It shows the commitment and initiative so important in the modern community policing.

“Our team was working in partnership to deal with the priorities identified by the local communities.

“We are always happy to hear feedback from our communities as it helps us better understand the needs and concerns of our residents.”
