Bedford's community leaders celebrate Pakistan Independence Day

The Mayor of Bedford joined community leaders who represented the Pakistani community in Bedford to celebrate Pakistan's 73rd Independence Day on Friday, August 14.

Bedfordians of Pakistani origin celebrated in a graceful flag raising ceremony held at the Old Town Hall.

The ceremony of raising of the Pakistani flag was attended by the Mayor of Bedford Mr Dave Hodgson and selected community leaders who represented the entire Pakistani community living in and around Bedford.

The ceremony started with playing of the National Anthem of Pakistan, and hoisting of the Pakistani Flag at the Town Hall.

The Mayor made a short speech highlighting the contributions of Pakistani Community which was followed by vote of thanks by Dr Azher.

The ceremony was conducted in accordance with social distancing guidelines issued by the Government.

The MP for Bedford Mohammad Yasin also attended the event.

Later the Pakistani Community held special prayers with the Friday congregations in the mosques and privately for the prosperity and progress of Pakistan and prayed also for the ending of the sufferings of people of Kashmir.
