Sir Captain Tom Moore, who raised more than £32 million pounds by walking 100 laps of his Marston Moretaine garden, has been presented with a framed copy of a mosaic made up of nearly 4,000 selfie photos of listeners to BBC Local Radio, saluting the war veteran’s efforts.

The war veteran was with his grandson Benjie when he received the mosaic.

On his 100th birthday, when he completed his 100 laps for NHS charities together, Captain Tom saw a digital copy of the mosaic, but today, to also celebrate BBC Three Counties Radio’s 35th anniversary, Captain Tom was presented with a framed copy for his home.

The mosaic was the idea of BBC Three Counties Radio.

Laura Moss, editor of BBC Three Counties Radio, said “Sir Captain Tom is our local hero and we’re so proud, as his Local BBC station, to have supported him from the very beginning on his epic fundraising efforts through the Local Radio Make a Difference campaign.

"The mosaic was a great way of bringing our listeners and everyone together to salute his extraordinary achievements and we’re extremely humbled to present it to him as a big thank you for everything he has done."
