Bedford's Captain Sir Tom Moore to be officially knighted by HM The Queen

Captain Sir Tom Moore, who raised more than £32million for NHS charities, is to receive his knighthood from Her Majesty The Queen in his own personal ceremony.
The event to honour the 100-year-old, from Marston Moretaine, will take place at Windsor Castle on Friday.

Hide AdCaptain Sir Thomas Moore will be accompanied by members of his family.
As was previously announced, Investitures planned for Buckingham Palace and the Palace of Holyroodhouse in June and July were postponed.
Captain Sir Thomas Moore’s award was formally announced by Downing Street on Wednesday, May 20.
During the ceremony, The Queen will use the sword that belonged to her father, George VI and will award Captain Sir Thomas Moore with the insignia of Knight Bachelor.

Hide AdThe ceremony will take place entirely within the confines of Windsor Castle, with no viewing positions for the public.
Captain Sir Tom, who was given the honorary title of colonel on his 100th birthday, he raised over £32,7million for NHS Charities Together when he walked 100 laps of his garden in April.
In a message on his Twitter account, Capt Sir Tom said: "I could never have imagined this would happen to me.
"It is such a huge honour and I am very much looking forward to meeting Her Majesty The Queen.
"It is going to be the most special of days for me."
On Saturday, the veteran became the first member of The FA’s Lionhearts squad after a special visit from David Beckham.
