One woman from Wootton has been recognised for her work with charity Pet Blood Bank UK.

Marie Dennis was recognised with the Ambassador Award in the Heart of Pet Blood Bank Award 2019-20 for her commitment to supporting the charity and raising awareness of its work.

She began supporting Pet Blood Bank after her own dog Grace needed a lifesaving blood transfusion several years ago.

After Grace’s life was saved with the help of a blood transfusion, Marie made it her personal mission to raise awareness, funds, and donors for Pet Blood Bank. It was her way of saying thank you for the blood Grace received.

She helped spread the word on social media and raised funds as well as bringing her other dogs, Luna and Liberty, along to donate blood.

On receiving her award at a virtual awards ceremony, Marie said: "I am passionate about this amazing charity and its work and will wear my pin badge with pride whilst the crystal award has pride of place on my mantlepiece."
