Bedford couple Anne and Mike celebrate diamond wedding

It certainly was a diamond celebration for two Oak Way House residents as they marked their 60th wedding anniversary.

Anne and Mike Smith met back in 1959 when they were both in the Army stationed in Chester.

They married after a short courtship and spent many happy years travelling, living and working across the world, including Ghana, the Seychelles and 22 years living in France.

Their daughter Nicola said: “My parents have been an inspiration to all of us and the most amazing parents, grandparents and great grandparents.”

The couple decided to move to Oak Way House, in Kimbolton Road, Bedford, three years ago to be close to family and friends.

They have four children and now have eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Marie Taylor, chief executive of Bedford Citizens Housing Association which manages Oak Way, said: “We are delighted to have been a part of this special celebration. Anne and Mike are an amazing couple and we love have them living with us at Oak Way where they have lots of friends.”
