Sharnbrook-based charity SEVA Trust UK has started a fortnightly food service for around 45 people.

Supporting the vulnerable and homeless people during the pandemic, this group is currently looked after by Smart CJS, a charity supporting homeless and rough sleepers.

Maddy Radoi, the tenancy sustainment case worker for Smart CJS, said: "Due to Covid19 our ‘somewhere safe to stay’ hub and homeless day centre are currently closed. We are currently working out of a hotel, where all our rough sleepers are accommodated.

"We would like to thank the SEVA Trust UK team for their fortnightly deliveries of staple food. It has been a tough time for all in emergency accommodation and it was a nice treat for all when the SEVA Team delivered freshly made cakes."

SEVA Trust chairman Charan Sekhon said: "Our teams have worked very hard since March to support local communities, elderly and international students and we would like to continue this support throughout the winter months.

"Last month we carried out a consultation to identify the most vulnerable and needy groups in Bedford and we decided to support this group of around 45 rough sleepers currently in temporary accommodation.

"In addition to this, we are supporting 50 families facing financial hardship and over 75 international students who still need ongoing support. We will continue this work at least until the end of March next year."
