The action-adventure survival horror game developed by Naughty Dog – which has won a plethora of awards and stands alone as a genre-defining title on the PS3 – is jaw-droppingly stunning.

To put in perspective just how good LOUR looks and runs on PS4, there were so many times when after one of the brilliant cinematic story cut scenes my character was just stood still and there was no dialogue.

‘Are they building the suspense?’ I thought. ‘Maybe it has crashed?’

Then I touched the analogue stick and the main character Joel moved. The graphics and frame rate are so good I honestly thought it was still in the cut scene.

This is like playing through a movie and is exactly what I imagined the future of gaming to be like when I was playing Sonic and Mario back in the 80s and 90s.

But the graphics are just the start, after all they should be a given on such powerful consoles.

It is difficult to talk too much about the plot without spoiling it but the player uses firearms, improvised weapons and stealth to defend against hostile humans and zombie-like creatures infected by a mutated strain of the Cordyceps fungus, a modern-day plague.

I had not played Last Of Us on PS3 so this was all new to me. The gameplay is much akin to the brilliant Resident Evil but far more polished.

I think the best way to sum this 10/10 game up is that in the days after playing I am still thinking about it.

It combines all the satisfaction of watching a great movie or TV series but you are the main protagonist and in control of your destiny.

The Last Of Us Remastered has re-set the bar for next gen gaming.

TLOUR is out now and exclusive to Playstation 4.
