Steve Lawes, of Acacia Road, Bedford, first complained to the council about the bus markings - that span the length of his home and three others - in 2015.

Now, five years on, he says Bedford Council are still refusing to move them.

He said: "This has been going on for five years. It’s the biggest bus stop I have ever seen, even on the main roads they’re not this big.

"The council have still not done anything about the 79ft bus stop outside my house.

"They claim the bus stop has been there for years before I complained, it has not.

"I am appealing for them to remove the whole bus stop, they should have it put two houses down, there is more room there, it will not interfere with anyone's driveways there.

"The council said they created the bigger bus stop because the buses are bigger, it is not fair on residents that have their driveways obstructed."

A Borough Council spokesperson said: “This bus stop has been here for over 15 years, and provides an important public transport stop for local residents in the area.

"This is not a location where we would expect buses to be stopping for any considerable length of time on a regular basis, and drivers are reminded to be considerate and mindful of their surroundings when waiting for passengers to get on and off the bus.”
