Official opening of new leisure centre

The new Flitwick Leisure Centre was given an official seal of approval when officials and guests attended its official opening ceremony last week.

The new centre is adjacent to the old building on the Steppingley Road. The £14.7 million facility opened its doors in February and an estimated 200,000 customers are thought to haveused the facilities since then.

It is part of a £40million Central Bedfordshire council investment to support active lifestyles and contribute towards its public health priorities.

Central Bedfordshire Council chairman Cllr David Bowater was joined by Shefford Lower School pupil Rosie to cut the ribbon at Friday’s event.
