That’s the message from Bedford Borough Council who say that everything should be back to normal in about three weeks’ time.

Bin collections will not be carried out on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day.

That means things will be ‘slightly different’ over the festive period.

They add that collections are expected to return to normal by Monday, January 14.

The council says residents should be able to refer to a tag placed on their bin. It has details of the changes and a collection calendar for next year.

Cllr Charles Royden, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Transport said “Take a moment to check your bin collection calendar over Christmas and New Year.

“These changes mean we won’t be disturbing residents over the festive bank holidays, but we apologise for any inconvenience these changes may cause.”
