Nine men and four women have been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences at a traveller site near Cardington.
Police carried out an early morning raid yesterday, following reports of criminal activity.
Around 180 officers, including support from the dog section, helicopter, firearms support units and officers on off-road bikes, executed a search warrant at dawn on plots at the Willow Drift traveller site, Meadow Lane, Cardington. The operation was organsed in partnership with Bedford Borough Council,
Superintendent Mark Upex, of the operation’s command team, said: “We have arrested 13 people and also recovered suspected stolen property. An investigation is now under way.
“We have a duty of care to the other residents, and to the wider local community, to ensure people can live safely, peacefully and lawfully.”
