Mayor Dave Hodgson has officially opened a fabulous new pond development at Pilgrims Pre Preparatory School on Brickhill Drive, Bedford.

Following a very generous donation from Pilgrims’ Parents, the school’s Parent Association, it has been possible to develop the pond and wildlife garden as part of the school’s extensive outdoor space.

The new secure area boasts a large decked platform from which the children can enjoy supervised pond-dipping, a special covered area for the children’s Forest School sessions and lots of trees, shrubs and plants which will attract an abundance of local wildlife.

The planting was carried out by children from Nursery and main school with the help of representatives from Beds Garden Carers, a local charity for young adults in Bedford who have learning difficulties.

Once established, the pond will be an integral part of the outdoor learning that all the children at the school enjoy, whether they attend Little Pilgrims, Nursery or the main school.
