New leader for local Freemasons

More than 400 Freemasons from Bedfordshire and surrounding areas are due to turn out at the Bedford Corn Exchange next month to celebrate the appointment of Tony Henderson as their new leader.

Mr Henderson will be the Provincial Grand Master for the Masonic Province of Bedfordshire.

He said: “I was introduced to Freemasonry 34 years ago and I am extremely proud of my membership of this organisation because it has always been an important part of my life.

Born and raised in Bedford, Mr Henderson is a regional business manager for an inventory management systems provider.

There are 1,720 Freemasons in Bedfordshire who meet at Masonic Halls in Bedford, Luton, Biggleswade, Ampthill, Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard.

In Bedfordshire alone it is estimated that more than £90,000 is given by Freemasons each year to support local good causes and charities.
