The supermarket will be working closely with the fundraising team at St John’s during the partnership, which will see Morrisons stores, offices and distribution centres raising millions of pounds to ensure Sue Ryder’s care can reach as many people as possible.

Fundraising for Morrisons community services, mobile units and family support teams – which will provide people with the best possible care at the end of their lives and support for their families – has already started in earnest.

Morrisons in Bedford held a bucket collection in store on the weekend of February 22 and 23, with many more events planned.

Sue Ryder’s regional fundraising manager Paula Priestley said: “This partnership is brilliant news for St John’s Hospice and for Sue Ryder as a whole.

“We are looking forward to working with colleagues at Morrisons stores across Bedfordshire, inspiring them to raise funds so we can deliver incredible care in their communities.”

During their visit, staff from Morrisons Bedford were introduced to teams working across the hospice and were taken around the inpatient unit and day therapy unit, so they could see first-hand some of the care provided by Sue Ryder.

Linda Brown said: “It was great to visit St John’s and see some of the amazing work which is done at the hospice.

“We’re really excited about supporting Sue Ryder and we have lots of fundraising activities coming up in store which both customers and colleagues will be able to get involved in.”
