Weighing 5lbs 4oz, she arrived into the world at 12.04am to proud parents Vicky Uzuseniene, 34, and Peter Brooks, 33, of Biddenham.

"Her due date was January 17 but she was early - there were no problems at all," said Peter.

"But I just need to mention how amazing the staff at Bedford Hospital were - both on the ward and especially Elizabeth who was there to deliver Mila."

The couple chose their daughter's name due to fact mum Vicky is Lithuanian.

"It's a name I've always liked," added Peter.

And how does the first-time dad feel about his little bundle of joy?

"It's amazing. I know every parent says it but she's perfect. I'm loving every second. It's the best feeling.

Director of nursing and patient services at Bedford Hospital, Deirdre Fowler said: “It was a busy day for everyone on Wednesday (January 1) and we are absolutely delighted and thankful to have helped bring seven adorable babies into the world on New Year's Day.

"Big congratulations to all the parents on their new arrivals, what a beautiful way to start the new year and thanks to all our incredible staff for working over the holiday period."
