Midweek cup action
Ahead via a strike from Amit Aghera after 27 minutes, the tie was sealed when first Bradley Voght doubled the scoreline in the 78th minute and Sam Worthington headed a third.
However the main talking point arrived just before half-time when, after United’s James Hearson had tripped Neil Ellis, the Clifton player’s retaliation to many deserved to be a red card rather than the yellow issued to both players by referee David Snaith. Hearson’s injuries saw him take no further part.
Elsewhere, Dunton Reserves ran out 2-1 winners at Eastcotts AFC in The Watson Shield, their first away victory. Goals from Charlie Williams and Liam Brophy were replied to by Craig Fairly.
