As excitement grows for the baking phenomena which starts on August 5, the latest line up has been announced.

Born in Luton to a Bangladeshi family, Nadiya has been baking for 10 years.

She first learned the skills at school in Luton.

The 30 year old now lives in Leeds with her husband and is a full-time mum to their three children.

After wondering why her father only served ice cream for dessert at his restaurant, as desserts aren’t a big feature of mealtimes in Bangladesh, Nadiya was encouraged by a school home economics teacher to develop her skills and now delivers beautiful masterpieces at family occasions.

Having put her career on the backburner to raise her family and with their support, she now feels inspired to have her own adventure - and make them proud.

Last year’s GBBO final drew in more than 12 million viewers, more than the World Cup final.

This year’s 12 strong line up hoping to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry with their culinary skills, include six men and six women .

Among the team for the sixth series are a nurse, an accountant, a travel photgrapher and a student.

Over the next few weeks they will have to battle it out making a variety of breads, cakes, puddings and show stoppers.

Under the watchful eye of Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc the bakers will be hoping to draw in the same enthusiastic crowds as last year.
