Prominent families who lived in Bedford and the homes they built in the town can be discovered during this weekend’s guided walk.
Entitled Who Lived In A House Like That, the Sunday morning walk is led by a member of the Bedford Association of Tour Guides.
There are many wonderful and interesting family houses in Bedford, although sadly most of them are now too large to be homes and they have been converted to other uses.
However, the story of the family that built them and the obvious wealth that they had acquired can still be told.
Are you one of the many who wonder about the huge white almost palatial building in the High Street opposite the Market Square? Older Bedfordians will perhaps remember it as Lloyds Bank and its story as a family home and who designed it will be among the stories.
Join the walk on Sunday, May 31, which leaves the Old Town Hall in St Paul’s Square at 11am. The cost is £3 per person with reductions for children. Booking is essential by calling 01234 718112 or visit www.bedfordtourguides.org.
