Meet the countryside champion

STANDING up for your countryside: the next 25 years will be the topic under discussion at an open event next week.

It will be an opportunity to meet Campaign to Protect Rural Engalnd (CPRE) boss Shaun Spiers who will give the talk.

Members of the audience will be invited to take part in a question and answer session.

Shaun’s talk will include a discussion of the government’s controversial planning reforms, the details of which are expected to be announced shortly.

The proposed reforms will be the most important national shake-up of the system for almost 30 years.

Shain said; “We continue to work with civil servants, MPs and the media to highlight our concerns and priorities and to seek to influence Ministers’ thinking as the final framework takes shape.” He advised people who are concerned to contact their MP: “It is not too l ate to influence this process.”

The meeting will take place at 8pm on Thursday, March 29 and Chellington Centre, Felmsersham Road, Carlton.

The Centre, which won a CPRE Living Countryside silver award in 2008, is run by ReachOut Plus, a charity creating opportunities to change people’s lives, especially those of the young, disabled or disadvantaged.
