Mayor of Bedford Dave Hodgson paid a visit to Bedford Guild House to find out more about its work and the people who go there.
He said: “It was great to visit Bedford Guild House and see the brilliant work of its staff and volunteers first hand. I have recently had three very good meetings with them and we have discussed the way forward for this important and much valued community asset. While the borough council sadly is not able to continue to help to fund its activities, we have been clear that we will work to help make sure they can continue, and on a sustainable footing.
“I am impressed by the work they do on behalf of older people in challenging times and will work with them to make sure they can continue to help many older people in our borough for many years to come.
“We discussed how they have been working with older people for over 50 years, so let’s look forward to another 50 years of success for Bedford Guild House.”
