A marathon with a difference is being tackled by pub regulars in Westoning on Bank Holiday Monday, May 4, to raise funds for charity.
The race is being rganised by Philip and Victoria Kelly, owners of The Chequers, when 26 loyal customers will be running one mile each around the village to raise cash for The Bedfordshire Downs Syndrome Support Group. So far this year The Chequers has raised £1,600 for the charity and are hoping to raise at least another £1,000 from the marathon.
Philip said: “I was listening on the radio about the London Marathon and so I thought a marathon through Westoning would be a great idea. Our village is too small to host a 26-mile race so I came up with the idea of a relay of 26 people running one mile each”. The race starts at The Chequers at 9am. visit www.bedsdownssyndrome.co.uk
