A man who was driving a car in a dangerous condition when he was involved in a crash along the A421 has been given a two year suspended sentence.

Simon Grant, 37, of The Lane, Wyboston, pleaded guilty at Luton Magistrates Court on Tuesday (September 29) to dangerous driving, possessing a gas canister and possessing a firearm when banned for life.

The incident happened on Monday (September 28) when Grant collided with another vehicle on a slip road off the A421.

It was later found that he illegally had a gas canister in his car.

Det Con David Adams said: “In just a short spate of time Grant committed a number of offences and put a number of people’s lives, including his own, in danger. We’re pleased that this matter was dealt with swiftly by the courts and we hope that this acts as a stark wake up call to him.

“Our officers acted quickly to investigate this issue; intervening the offender before he caused further harm, and consequently protecting the people of Bedfordshire.”
