A man has died weeks after an attack in Kempston left him with serious injuries.

The assault happened on Sunday, December 6 between 7pm and 8pm in Whitbread Avenue.

Police are now appealing for witnesses after revealing that following his injuries the victim has since died.

Det Sgt Craig Laws said: “I’m appealing for people to wrack their minds back to the beginning of December to see if they can remember witnessing this assault, or if they saw anything suspicious in the area around the time of the offence.

“We don’t know whether there were any weapons involved in the incident, and as part of our investigation we’re keen to hear from anyone who may have come across items that could have been used as a weapon discarded in the vicinity of the attack.”

Four men have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident.

They have been bailed pending further investigations.
