Man attacked and robbed of phone in town centre

A 22 year old man was punched in the face and had his mobile phone stolen during a robbery in Bedford in the early hours of Sunday, October 26, and police are appealing for witnesses.

The incident happened at around 1.20am as the victim was walking along Midland Road towards the train station. As he got to the junction of Midland Road and Grafton Road, he was approached by three offenders who demanded that he handed over his mobile phone. When the victim refused, he was attacked by the men who then stole his phone and fled.

The victim made his way to Greyfriars Police Station before being taken to Bedford Hospital for treatment to facial injuries.

The first offender was an Asian man, in his early 20s, around 5ft 10ins tall and wearing a black Adidas tracksuit. The two other offenders were both black men, in their early 20s, around 5ft 11ins tall, one wore a grey tracksuit while the other work a dark coloured outfit.

Detective constable Andy Boston, who is investigating the robbery, is keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the attack and may have witnessed the robbery taking place.
