Major works will improve water supply to two villages

The £150,000 project under Anglian Water will see Pavenham Road closed between St Peter’s Church, Pavenham and just outside Felmersham for four weeks.

Workers will use innovative horizontal directional drilling to minimise disruption and the time it takes to lay the main.

Anglian Water spokesman Sarah Dobson said: “Replacing this large section of water main will significantly reduce the likelihood of leaks and bursts, which have been a problem for residents in the past.”

Sarah said: “Well signposted diversion routes will be in place throughout the duration of the works to try to minimize disruption wherever possible.”

The works aim to provide more secure water supplies to households in the two villages.

Customers’ water supplies will not be affected during the works, which will be carried out during normal working hours.

Sarah said: “Inevitably, with a project of this scale there may be some disruption to residents and road users, and we apologise for this. However, we hope that people understand how important it is and that the benefits will outweigh any short term inconvenience.”
