Major disruption to trains on Thameslink route

SIGNALLING problems are currently causing severe delays on trains on the Bedford to Brighton line.

First Capital Connect and East Midlands Trains say the disruption on the Thameslink route is expected to last most of the afternoon, and has been caused by signalling problems at Hendon.

A statement on First Capital Connect’s website reads: “Owing to signalling problems between Cricklewood and Radlett all lines are blocked.

Train services through these stations may be subject to disruption on all routes at short notice. Disruption is expected until 23:45 11/11.”

The operator says tickets will be accepted on is available on London Underground, local buses and Croydon Tramlink across London, London Midland, Euston to Milton Keynes, including Watford to St Albans Abbey, FCC Great Northern Kings Cross to Peterborough, and on Southern on any reasonable route.

It is running the following replacement bus services: St Albans to Hatfield, Luton/Luton Airport Parkway to Hitchin, Bedford to St Neots. Customers travelling to and from London are advised to travel from Kings Cross and connect into the replacement buses.

A spokeswoman for East Midlands Trains said: “We would like to apologise to passengers for any inconvenience these delays may cause and would like to thank them for their patience as Network Rail works hard to restore services to normal as quickly as possible.”
