Hospitality trainees from Bedford College went out on the street to celebrate National Waiters’ Day - with a bit of limbo to entertain onlookers.

Young people who will work as front of house staff or in hotel management all have to learn the skills of service with a smile.

And they decided to practice their craft in Harpur Square, Bedford for the lunchtime crowds.

Sam Ranasinghe, senior trainer and ‘Maitre d’ coach at the Bedford College 25 Restaurant where meals are prepared for real customers said: “We wanted to join in this celebration of the art of service which is so important to all hospitality businesses large or small.

“In Bedford and the county as a whole there are hundreds of businesses who benefit from employing Bedford College-trained young people.”
