But for Bedford residents, and those living in Aragon or BPHA properties, there is a new service offering affordable loans to purchase new, essential household items with low weekly payments.

The ReUse Centre and The Bedford Credit Union (BCU) have collaborated to offer low-interest loans of up to £350, where repayments can be as little as £8 per week, for 53 weeks or less.

BCU general manager Keith Carter said: “This is a great opportunity for BCU and TRC to reach out to more people in the area and to allow them to get the things they most need for their homes in a way that they can afford. BCU is a not for profit organisation so our low interest rates make our payments much more affordable for people experiencing some financial hardship.”

To find out more about the scheme, visit The ReUse Centre in Church Arcade, or Gadsby Street, in Bedford.
