Central Beds Council is asking local businesses to take part in a survey about the issues they face to help shape the services offered to support long term economic growth across the area.

Last year’s survey highlighted issues around recruitment and skills and consequently the council secured European funding for schemes to work with local businesses in important sectors such as care, construction, hospitality and retail to deliver training to unemployed people and help them gain the skills they need to secure a job in these sectors.

The 2014 survey is being carried out jointly by the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership and Central Beds Council. The survey can be found at www.semlep businesssurvey.co.uk until Thursday, July 31.

Councillor Nigel Young, executive member for economic development, said: “We’ve had some really successful surveys in the past which have given us useful information about what local businesses expect from us. This year’s survey will help us continue to improve how we communicate with and support local businesses.”
