Lagoon plunge driver is charged

Court date for man at wheel when three youngsters drowned

The man at the wheel of a car which plunged into Arlesey's Blue Lagoon, drowning three young children, has been charged with their manslaughter.

Courtney Barker, 22, of The Purley Centre, Luton, was arrested and taken to Dunstable Police Station.

He was released on conditional police bail after being charged with three counts of manslaughter and will appear before Bedford magistrates on Tuesday (September 11).

Brothers six-year-old Imran Khan and Aaron Khan, aged five, were with half sister Sharla Blair, aged three, when the car went into the lake at the Blue Lagoon beauty spot at Arlesey on July 28.

The children's mother, Claire Armstrong, was also in the car at the time.
