It’s good to Relate says charity aimed at helping couples

WITH latest statistics showing divorce is continuing to rise, Relate in Luton and Dunstable is advising struggling couples to get in touch.

Figures released by the Office of National Statistics show that there has been an increase in the divorce rate of nearly 5 per cent, with far more couples splitting up before they reach their 15th wedding anniversary.

Relate Bedfordshire and Luton Chief Executive Angela Foll says that unfortunately it comes as no surprise:

“Couples are coming under more pressure than ever before, with money worries the biggest cause of problems today.

“Of course Christmas can be a particularly stressful time and problems often bubble up to the surface within families over the festive holidays.

“Our own figures shows that couples will often wait for years before they come to us for help, but once they are here we can help.”

Relate is the country’s largest provider of relationship support, via a network of 70 centres across the UK. Services include relationship counselling for individuals and couples; family counselling; counselling for children and young people; and sex therapy.
