Indie legend returns to Wynn your hearts

A STAR of the American college radio scene of the 1980s, one of the finest songwriters of his generation, and a bloody nice bloke to boot, Steve Wynn is coming back to Bedford.

Steve made his name as leader of the Dream Syndicate, a Los Angeles act who were perhaps the finest export from the Paisley Underground music movement.

Influenced by the likes of the Velvet Underground, Television and Creedence Clearwater Revival, the band gained prominence with their aggressive feedback-soaked jams.

There were spoken of in the same breath as the likes of The Replacements and early REM, as this trio of bands practically invented the US indie music scene which dominated college radio in the 1980s..

Since he went solo in 1990 Steve has cemented his reputation as being a top-drawer act, both live and in the studio.

He has averaged an album a year for the last two decades, whether solo, with his backing band The Miracle Three, or as part of Danny & Dusty.

His style ranges from aggressive rockers to thoughtful acoustica, but his ear for a melody always shines through.

And best of all, when he played Bedford a few years ago he had his setlist written on a popadom.
