Historic hall is new home for Registry Office
From April 1, the office will take up residence in the Old Town Hall, in St Peter’s Square, after many years in a rented space in the Pilgrim’s Centre, Brickhill Drive.
The Town Hall’s Old Council Chamber and Mayor’s Parlour will be used to host weddings and civil partnerships as well as renewal of vows and citizenship ceremonies.

People will also be able to register births and deaths, change of name deeds and gain copies of certificates.
Bedford Mayor Dave Hodgson, said: “Using the Council’s own property instead of rented office space will also save taxpayers’ money.
“It offers a marvellous, historic setting for weddings and civil partnerships, and will be a very attractive venue.”
Bedford Borough Council will take on the management of the local Registry Service from Central Bedfordshire Council.
