Dharminder Mehmi had his head shaved to mark World Prematurity Day and has so far raised more than £500 for a charity called Bliss.

His son, Sukhi, was born at 26 weeks in 2012 and spent nearly 11 weeks in intensive and special care. Dharminder said: “If it wasn’t for the great care he was given, he wouldn’t have made it. He has no significant lasting effects of his prematurity and is now thriving. This is thanks to all medical professionals involved in his care and the advances in care for premature babies.”

Each November, the UK charity Bliss comes together with partners from around the world to talk about premature birth and take action on behalf of the 15 million babies born early every year.

Dharminder added: “I want to do my bit to make a real difference to the 95,000 babies born premature or sick every year. Every donation that’s made to this page brings Bliss closer to ensuring that every baby born premature or sick in the UK has the best chance of survival and quality of life. Bliss does that by supporting parents to care for their babies, campaigning for better neonatal care and enabling life-changing research.”
