Plans for the regeneration of the former brickworks factories in Stewartby and Kempston Hardwick, are being unveiled next week.

The Bedford Brickworks proposals will go on display at a public exhibition next Friday, January 11, from 12 noon - 9pm at Stewartby Village Hall.

The exhibition will be a chance for residents to meet the project team and have a say on the plans.

Project leaders say the Bedford Brickworks project will revitalise the brownfield, former industrial sites, bringing back jobs and homes to create new, sustainable communities firmly rooted in the area’s history.

A new replica chimney with ‘Stewartby’ written down it will be reproduced on site to honour the heritage of the site and workers of the old London Brick Company.

Shen Kan, a spokesman for Cloud Wing, said: “Our vision is to create thriving new residential and business communities which contribute to the enhancement of Bedford.

“These sites have the potential to create thousands of well-paid jobs, reducing the need for local people to commute out of the town for work.

“I am looking forward to speaking with the public about our proposals and building the homes Bedford needs for the future generations to come.”
