Handbag snatched from woman walking along Embankment

Police are appealing for information after a woman had her handbag snatched in Bedford.

The victim was walking along the Embankment, close to the flats at Duck Mill Crescent and Mill Meadows, with her partner at about 4.30pm on Monday, March 16 when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her bag which was over her shoulder.

The offender ran off along Duck Mill Lane.

Her partner gave chase but lost the offender near to the Park Inn hotel in St Mary’s Street.

The offender is described as Asian, 5’10’’ and stocky. He was wearing a green ‘Parka’ style jacket.

The victim’s handbag was later found in Palgrave Road. Her mobile phone and purse had been stolen, however the purse was later found in the Queens Park area.

Detective Constable Darren Armitage, investigating, said: “The victim was shaken up by the incident.

“The area would have been quite busy at the time and I would urge anyone who saw what happened to call police.”
