Hand grenade safely detonated after discovery in Bedford river


It was discovered on Easter Sunday
An old unexploded hand grenade discovered in the river in Bedford has now been safely detonated by experts.
The device was reported to police at around 1.30pm on Sunday and a cordon was put in place around Riverside Square.
The Emergency Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended and safely removed and later detonated the device.
