Cranfield Church of England Academy has each received a grant of £1,000 to help fund new playground equipment.
The school was selected by the housebuilder Persimmon Homes Midlands Community Champions scheme.
The year long initiative aims to support local groups and charities with a pot of £24,000 of match-funding available. Head teacher Joanna Farbon said: “We at Cranfield Academy love a challenge.
“Our Parent and Teacher Association has worked tirelessly with the school to raise funds for this equipment. We have run a heap of events, from Christmas fetes to gift shops, to try to raise money for this equipment.
“We can’t thank Persimmon enough for the donation, putting us even closer to our fundraising goal.”
The Persimmon Community Champions initiative is a national programme, where charities and groups can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves. Nationwide the company will donate £750,000.
