Police set up a 100m cordon round a doctors’ surgery after it was feared a gas main had been hit by a car.
The incident, by Houghton Close Surgery, off Oliver Street, Ampthill, happened at 9.17am this morning (December 11).
An elderly female driver was treated by paramedics on the scene, while police and fire fighters established if the gas pipe had been severed.
Residents were advised to stay indoors with windows and doors shut, and be prepared to be evacuated.
After inspecting the gas main it was declared safe and the cordon removed at about 10am.
