After a traditional countdown, the festive lights were turned on in Ampthill.
Pantomine dame Nurse Molly Coddle and magician Adrian Ward kept the crowds entertained until the star of the event, six-year-old Sammy Douglas pressed the button to light up the town with the Christmas lights.
The event was organised by the Friends of Ampthill Christmas Lights. Each year they hold a draw for a resident to turn on the lights.
Sammy got the lucky tickets this year after his neighbour won the draw but passed it on to him.
Nurse Molly Coddle, played by Maurice Kachuk, will be appearing the pantomime Robin Hood and The Babes in the Wood, at Redbourne Upper School and Community Collage, on December 19 and 20.
