Two of the country’s leading badminton players were in Bedfordshire at the weekend to celebrate the official opening of new leisure facilities.
British mixed doubles specialist Emily Westwood and Scottish mens doubles champ Adam Hall were among the first to play on Silsoe’s Community Sports Centre’s new courts.
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, residents were able to get started on their new fitness regimes in the fully-equipped gym and football pitches.
There was even time for a coffee after at the Costa Coffee bar.
Silsoe Parish Council chairman Mike Jarrard said: “This is an important event in our village’s history, in which Cranfield University has been instrumental is leaving a legacy for the surrounding area to enjoy for fitness and well-being.”
