The college trainees visited the Cranfield Operations and Excellence Institute to take part in problem-solving challenges using 3-D virtual reality technology.

The apprentices all work with international employers such as Coca Cola, SMC at MK and Clarke Energy of Liverpool, and enjoyed the opportunity to learn from research experts at Cranfield who specialise in the areas of aerospace, agrifood, defence, energy and environmental technology.

Research Fellow Dr Paul Jones said the apprentices were “a credit to Bedford College”.

Bedford College leads in the placement of apprentices with some of the most advanced engineering companies in the world who are based in Bedfordshire and Luton.

It is hosting an apprenticeship event at the Harpur Suite, in Bedford, on April 14, from 5pm to 8pm.
