Full steam ahead

IT was full steam ahead at an ever popular fayre at the weekend.

The Bedfordshire Steam and Country Fayre was held at Old Warden Park on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There was plenty for visitors to see with more than 140 engines on view as well as a large number of exhibits.

The steam engines were complemented by tractors and heavy horses, vintage vehicles and even an old fashioned fairground for the youngsters.

Families with their eyes to the skies will have spotted the flying displays with twisting and turning aerial acrobatics.

For other displays there was no need for visitors to stretch their necks as the morris dancing, working dog demonstrations and craft demonstrations all took place at ground level.

Enthusiasts also enjoyed samples of steam ploughing and miniature steam engines, while keen shoppers browsed the trade, market and craft stalls.

And this annual event was truly the place to let off a bit of steam after the working week by relaxing with a pint at the licensed bar.
