Plans to build a new sports pavilion along with relocating a football pitch have been approved by Bedford Borough Council.
The new building will house state-of-the-art changing facilities and a function room for players and supporters using the artificial pitch in the Aspire site, on Norse Road.
The plans are part of the ongoing housing development, which will now see an additional 38 homes built on the former football pitch site, taking the number of new homes to 359.
The scheme was submitted to the council by DLP Planning on behalf of Orbit Homes.
A DLP spokesman said: “The councillors voted unanimously to approve this plan in principle. We are now in the process of finalising the necessary details with the planning department to make the planning permission official.”
He added: “The development provides much needed housing in a sustainable location on a site already identified for development. We are pleased the site will contribute towards the delivery of affordable homes within Bedford Borough.”
