Flitwick charities cash in on building society’s birthday celebrations

Good causes in Flitwick have been given a cash boost as part of celebrations to mark a milestone anniversary.

Yorkshire Building Society’s agency at AIA in High Street joined celebrations to mark 150 years of the society helping people save for their futures by calling on customers to nominate charities to receive donations of £100.

Five Flitwick good causes have benefited from the celebration - they are Friends of Chums, Keech hospice Care, Carers in Bedfordshire, Parkinson’s UK and Hula Animal Rescue.

AIA manager Carol Tarver said: “I’m delighted that five worthwhile causes in our area are part of the hundreds of charities that the society is supporting throughout the UK and I’m sure the money will be used to make a positive difference in our community.”

The Make a Difference Week is made possible thanks to Yorkshire Building Society’s Innovative Small Change, Big Difference scheme, which enables members to donate the pennies from the annual interest on their savings and mortgage accounts each year to the building society’s charitable foundation.
