The windfall has come from the Amazon fulfilment centres in Milton Keynes and Dunstable.

Home-Start in Central Bedfordshire provides life-changing support for local families when they face challenging times.

The charity works with vulnerable families in the district providing practical aid and emotional support through a series of initiatives including dedicated family workers and a one to one intensive programme of support.

The staff and volunteers at Home-Start will use the donation to help fund volunteer recruiting and training, as well as to host a thank you lunch for the volunteers who provide support to local families.

This is the third time that Amazon in Milton Keynes and Dunstable have supported Home-Start. To mark this year’s donation, several members of the Amazon team visited the charity’s headquarters in Dunstable to meet the volunteers and learn about the great work they continue to do in the community.

Amazon’s Milton Keynes general manager, Scott Wharton, said: “We’re happy to lend a helping hand to Home-Start once again this year. The charity is a lifeline for families in our community during times of need. The Amazon team really enjoyed meeting the staff and volunteers at Home-Start in Central Bedfordshire and we’re pleased to support an important cause.”

Linda Johnson, chief executive from Home-Start in Central Bedfordshire, added: “It’s wonderful to get a donation from Amazon again this year. The team at Amazon in Milton Keynes and Dunstable continue to support us in our efforts to provide a vital service to families across Central Bedfordshire and to know that a local business, like Amazon is behind us is really encouraging. I’d like to say thank you to the Amazon team for helping us continue to support local vulnerable families in times of need.”

The ongoing support of Home-Start forms part of the ‘Amazon in the Community’ programme whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
