A family-owned nursery in Bedford is celebrating after being praised as ‘outstanding’ in an Ofsted report.
Haven 2000 Nursery and Pre-school in Clapham Road was applauded for the care they take in helping babies develop, and in preparing tiny tots for ‘big school’.
Early Years teacher Maria Riley, who herself was praised for her leadership said: “For an independent nursery such as ours to achieve an outstanding Ofsted report for a second time is very rare.”
The nursery which employs 16 staff was commended by inspectors who wrote in their report: “Teaching and learning are outstanding because staff have very high expectations and understand how children learn. All children make excellent progress in their learning and development. Effective deployment of the staff enables them to support children to extend their learning. The quality of teaching is excellent. They support, challenge and inspire children to become active, independent learners – development is closely monitored.”
Maria, who runs the nursery with her sister-in-law, added: “Our parents like to think we look after their children as well as they would – with the added benefit of endless time and patience to help them blossom – we are all celebrating with a family party!”
